Beginning Knitting  Nancy Bjerke
Two 2.5 hour classes. Mondays 5:00 – 7:30pm
Session 1: September 22, 29
Session 2: November 10, 17
Learn how to knit during the first class, and come back for follow up and more techniques at the second class. You will learn the four basics of knitting: the knit stitch, the purl stitch, cast on, and bind off (plus a couple other neat tricks!). There will be lots of time to practice in class so you will learn to correct mistakes as you go, and will return home to knit confidently. See materials lists.

Hand Knit Socks   Debra Lacy
Three 2 hour classes. Mondays 5:00 - 7:00pm
Session 1: October 6, 13, 20
Session 2: November 24, December 1, 8
Prerequisite: Beginning Intermediate, must know the basics of knitting.
Once you discover how comfortable, well-fitting and beautiful hand-knit socks are, you'll never be able to wear anything else! With Debra's guidance, you will learn the process of casting on, turning the heel, and decreasing for the toe, while knitting an adult sized sock. See materials list.

A Sweater For You!   Joanne Clark

Joanne is back with this popular class! In this class you will choose a sweater design of your choice and work with Joanne to knit the sweater to fit you. This is a chance to make that sweater you've always wanted to make—Fair isle, Raglan, Cardigan, round yoke, Bohus, Aran, Norweigan, Two Color, are just some of the options to choose from. Class is structured so that there are knitting weeks between
class times. Joanne is especially skilled in teaching you to make sweaters that “fit”. See materials list.

The afghan continues to grow!! We are now on square #7. If you haven't started yet, you can start now! The FiberTrends book, authored by our own local knitter Joanne Clark is now on bookshelves. This sampler afghan is a teaching or learning afghan, where you will learn all the basics of knitting while making the different squares. For example one square is cables and lace. Another is just
pockets. Another is entrelac. There are 12 squares in all. Maybe you just need to learn a skill or two through out the year, just come to one or two sessions, or come to all, and at the end of the year, you'll have a beautiful sampler afghan! Made with Fibertrends/Naturally Harmony Merino Yarn. At

Learn to cast on using circular needles. We will make a fast, warm, winter hat using two colors and yarns. Great for novice knitters wanting to learn how to knit in the round using circular and double pointed needles. See materials list.

Come to learn how to knit and line your mittens with wool fleece. We will learn two different techniques for fleece lined mittens. Lots of fun, and really warm!

Let's Knit a Gansey   Janna Kilburn
Six 1.5 hour classes. Mondays 5:30 - 7:00

Prerequisite: Beginning Intermediate, must know the basics
of knitting.
This straightforward sweater is equally suitable for women and men. This class offers opportunities for knitters of all levels to knit a traditional gansey with a circular construction (no seams to sew up), drop sleeves, and straight sides. Beginners may want to stick to a straightforward pattern (provided by Janna). More experienced knitters may introduce as many variations on the basic construction as they wish, including gussets, different ribbing or welts, border patterns, and shoulder strap construction. Introduction to Knitted Lace   Debbie Carpenter
Three 2-hour classes. Mondays 5:00 – 7:00

Add some airy beauty and interesting stitches to your scarf patterns! In you've always wanted to try knitted lace, or have tried on your own and been frustrated, then come to this three session workshop. Students will knit a lace scarf, learn to read simple pattern charts, and receive tips for making lace knitting easy and fun. See materials list.
